Liquid Sound – Long : Yeonhee Project I
(Seoul/South Korea)
Yeonhee is a generic term to bring various forms of arts together: circus, dance, percussion, theatre… It therefore makes sense that the show offered by the Liquid Sound company is an astonishing mix of all these disciplines.
Long: Yeonhee Project I is an invitation. An invitation to a trip into Korean culture, from its traditional codes to the most contemporary aspects – even sometimes avant-garde! In an immaculate scenography, the artists then follow each other as if on a funny catwalk, and perform dance numbers, ribbons, percussion…
The moves are very codified, the staging planned to the millimetre, and at the same time, the rhythm speeds up, the sounds become louder- electro is never far away. Special mention to the costumes, whose originality is matched by their surprising aesthetic.
Founded in 2015, Korean company Liquid Sound brings together artists from different backgrounds – dancers, circus performers, musicians… – who reinterpret their country’s traditions with a contemporary sensibility. In each of their shows, artistic expressions intersect, as do heritages and innovations. Driven by the desire to strengthen international cultural exchanges, they perform regularly in Europe.
