This is one of the particularities of the Avignon Festival: giving a major artist on the international stage the opportunity to imagine a travelling show, intended to hit the road as soon as the event ends.
With great joy, we welcome this original creation, a pre-configuration of future collaborations between our festivals !

In Une ombre vorace, we follow the destiny of two men : one is a renowned mountaineer, the other is the one who played his character in the cinema.
From there, Mariano Pensotti interweaves levels of fiction and layers of reading, the intimate stories bounce off of each other, reality is invented – unless it is the opposite.
Carried by sumptuous writing which tells about resilience, family ties, global warming and so much more, the play is also enhanced by an undeniable cinematic aspect.

A major figure on the South American artistic scene, Mariano Pensotti is an Argentinian playwright, director and producer whose talent is recognized the world over. He has written over 15 plays, including Quand je rentrerai à la maison je serai un autre, presented at the Avignon Festival in 2015. In parallel, Pensotti develops site-specific performances, including films, in which he enjoys blurring the boundaries between fiction and reality.
