Glued to his chair, a strange character tells his trip around the world in a totally unintelligible Shakespearean gibberish. Beside him, his sidekick in a swimsuit works frantically, turning hundreds of scribbled cardboard signs into beasts, worlds, and creatures appearing out of nowhere through a wildly improvised odyssey crafted entirely before our eyes. Somewhere between dantesque burlesque, an unhinged clown duo, and a ramshackle funfair, Les gros patinent bien unleashes a comic machine of formidable precision, calibrated down to the millimetre to keep laughter suspended inside perfectly orchestrated chaos. Multi-award-winning, critically acclaimed, and sold out for years, this cardboard cabaret was originally imagined by Pierre Guillois and Olivier Martin-Salvan as a street performance… And the street has never stopped barging in uninvited.

Director, actor, screenwriter, and all-round experimenter, Pierre Guillois has been navigating contemporary theatre for over thirty years, with admitted pleasure in twisting its codes in order to invent his own theatrical playground. Celebrated for major successes (Bigre, Le Gros, la Vache et le Mainate, Sacrifices), he has become a master at creating popular, unruly, and delightfully absurd worlds where laughter acts as a razor-sharp critique of the world surrounding us.
