Originally from Oran and Kabylia, it was in the 2000s Algeria that Fazia Lellou — aka La Louuve — sharpened her claws within the counterculture of Raï, a musical genre as much as a way of life, as much resistance as it is a scream. In a country where music long had to fight for its place, the turntables became her territory, the night her hunting ground. An emerging female figure on the Algerian electronic scene, she asserts herself as a raw and razor-sharp force. Her controller? A battering-ram steering wheel. Anti-hype by nature, radical by instinct, she skids, crashes, and spins through intoxicating Raï, Maghreb electro, Afro-Gnawa, dabke, sharqi, and mahragan — a musical trajectory stretching from Mauritania to Iran, never slowing down nor apologizing for existing.
