Talking about clothes in order to blow apart social expectations. At the crossroads of theatre, performance, visual art and fashion Le Grand Défilé dismantles the masquerade of “Femininity” by boldly hijacking the gender stereotypes. Lolita, Bimbo, Bride… Three actresses and nine amateur performers walk a catwalk turned minefield — a fashion week of magnificent recycled costumes, fragments of toxic inheritance turned into visual weapons. In the intimacy of the backstage area, women reclaim their stories like plural femininities dancing on the ruins of patriarchy. Because in the end, fashion here is merely a pretext: a mirror held up to society to celebrate otherness, contemporary youth, and give voice to a silent revolution of existing without justification.

Since 2012 in Marseille, Edith Amsellem’s company has questioned gender, identity, and the place of women in society with the cold fury of those determined to denounce the indecency of the dominating class. Different, political, and never consensual, its multidisciplinary performances always emerge where they are the least expected, from multisport courts to castle playgrounds — turning public space into a repair and collective reinvention site.
